Last year over 7,000 people came out to Bear Creek and we couldn’t be happier to cover such a special festival this weekend. The Spirit of the Suwannee Park has become a second home to music lovers, hosting festivals ranging from the Allman Brothers’ Wanee Fest to more intimate events like Springfest and Magnolia Fest. This year definitely proves to be a good one as the Trey Anastasio Band is headlining along with Beats Antique playing twice, Break Science, Big Gigantic, Dumpstaphunk, the New Mastersounds, Medeski Scofield, Martin & Wood, Soulive, the Funky Meters, Galactic, Zach Deputy, Zoogma, and more!
This Fall Bear Creek will also be sporting a brand new stage: The Silent Disco Stage, which will keep the party going til nearly 5am each night. The festival organizers have pledged to provide a thousand pairs of headphones for a total of 1,000 people at the Music Hall. Ideal for late night, non-disturbing dance sessions…some of the names in the Silent Disco include: Gramatik, Michal Menert, Freekbass, Gypsyphonic Disko, Schemeans, KRAZ, Sub Swara, Sir Charles, Wick-It the Instigator, Wyllys, DJ Craig Heneveld, and Team Jaguar.

Also at Bear Creek this year are two great charity opportunities to give back to the community. The first is an annual food drive to support the Suwannee Valley Food Bank…if you bring 5 or more cans or non-perishable food items to the festival office you’ll receive good karma and a commemorative 2011 Stanley Mouse designed festival poster. The second is a charitable disc golf tournament hosted by Zach Deputy. This takes place on the 18-hole Magnolia Disc Golf Course at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park on Saturday at 10AM. Both these events are relatively easy and could help remind you of this festival for many years to come.
Bring a costume, things that glow, fur, or anything else that could possibly help you prepare for an unimaginable experience in Live Oak. It’s gonna be one hell of a 11/11/11 party.
