Convergent evolution is when two completely separate lineages evolve similar features. In nature we see this with the Sugar Glider and the Flying Squirrel (there’s your daily bit of knowledge). Outside of nature we can see this between Dub & Dubstep. The former came out of 1960′s Reggae with a focus on remixing original tracks through bringing to light the Drum and Bass ‘Riddim’ of these productions. While the latter, Dubstep, has been a constant evolution and combination of techniques used in Two-Step, Grime, Drum and Bass, and UK Garage.
In today’s remix of the TCT feature I bring you 16 deep tracks that are definitively influenced by Reggae. With the likes of Marley, Nas, Radikal Guru, and Erykah Badu in the ranks, I am sure you won’t be disappointed. Some are new, others are old and necessary. Check it all!
