This and That [EDM]

15 Dec

(Steve Angello @ Nocturnal)

There are a lot of reasons why Electronic Dance Music has been exploding in America: the experience, the dancing, las drogas (unfortunately), but the most important reason is THE MUSIC. People have bitten the sweet fruit and for many college students, they have converted over. However, the only drawback for me, is the ignorance towards other EDM genres. We all know about Avicii, Skrillex, Pretty Lights and Swedish House Mafia. You love them. I love them. PB&J™ loves them. However, I always find it enjoyable to listen to lesser-known DJs/Producers and you should too! They’re equally as talented, if not more! I started listening to EDM before Avicii went by Tim Berg, when there was no SHM, and David Guetta was still a douche. Just take a listen below. These are some of my favorite tracks right now. Note: none of them are new. Enjoy!

Adam K is kick ass. Love him, and the tribute you guys posted a while back.

It’s all about finding your own taste in music and finding artists that have that sound. Not following what everyone else is listening to. FUCKING ROBOTS!!!

haha i 100% agree with you. I’m not saying these guys are not legends (because they are). I didn’t intend to use DJs/producers that are “lesser known” for the post, and i wasn’t implying they are lesser known by posting their music. just wanted to post a variety of genres. love the input!

Totally agree. Branching out is good, however Eric Prydz, Skream, BT, Adam K are all legends in the edm scene, and Dada? Pretty well known

Absolutely not, nor would I with Dada Life, Eric Prydz, Adam K, and BT. Just saying that many (too many) talented DJs aren’t recognized or listened to by U.S. fans because their name isn’t Avicii. And people should start branching out to other genres other than big-room progressive house that you hear at festivals and shows.

i wouldn’t necessarily consider skream underground and lesser known.

I couldn’t agree with this post any more, well put sir! I have major respect for all of the superstars in the games without a doubt, but I definitely agree, there is a wealth of extremely talented DJs/Producers out there that are relatively unknown. I have seen pretty much every major artist in the game over the past year, and I have to say, out of all the shows/sets I have seen the ones that stand out the most were put on by artist still flying under the mainstream radar. Last year at Starscape which had everyone under the sun Steve Aoki, Flux Pavilion/Doctor P, Bassnectar, you name it they were there pretty much. I was almost disappointed by the sets of the artist I initially came to see, and absolutely blown away by artist I’ve never heard of. Two that stood out where StarEyes an amazing female DJ out of Brooklyn NY, spins outrageous drumb & bass, and By far the best set of the night in my opinion was by these four French Men known as DirtyPhonics.
