Too Chill on Tuesday

17 Jan

STS9 is behind us for now, Big Gigantic is on the unimaginably close horizon, all while the Deadmeat tour, Excision and Snowball come in hot after that. For now, it’s time to take a step back and drop the tempo into a groovy state of mind for the week to come. This week is all over the board on the genre standpoint, but still a solid playlist.  Check these tracks out and begin relaxin:

A little more than a year ago, Blackmill remixed Ellie Goulding’s “Your Song” – well, now they’re back with an incredible original mix featuring Veela. Entitled “Let it Be”, this track brings everything we desire in a groovy jam: peaceful, inviting, female vocals with a vibrant drone of a bassline to carry us through its entirety.

I got so lost in this next track that I had to restart it a few times in order to get a good handle on the dynamics of this remix. With the original by Birdy, Cleindl has given us a super clean, chilled-out remix of “People Help the People”. Dramatic drones building under the synth line, peter out to a groovetastic drop.

John Talabot dropped this incredible track a few days ago and I’ve been itching to get it up today. A little different than what you normally hear on this grouping, but it’s definitely my favorite track this week.  A solid progressive transgression that leads in and out of a belching keyboard, and clean percussion give “So Will be Now” an enticing feel that will get anyone into a happy vibe.

Ianborg is at it again with this Drum and Bass track he put together last week.  Being slightly more up-tempo than we are used to seeing from him, this still brings the classic feel that makes it chill-worthy.  The repetition of the Piano, just below the snare line is perfect to keep us going throughout.  While the throaty bass drops the lively snare and hats down a level.
