Chameo – Hey!

When Copenhagen producer, Chameo, releases a new track, you better pay attention. We haven’t heard much from him since his HUGE remix of “Out of It” by Fallulah back in January and his new track “Hey!” is ready to bang out at the next festival closest to you. I’m not usually a progressive house fan, but there’s something about Chameo‘s productions that consistently gets things stirring in my loins. Maybe you’ve experienced a similar feeling?

At either rate, “Hey!” is another smash house hit you NEED in your next itunes playlist – dance around your room, drive recklessly fast, impress your friends with your impeccable taste in music – I don’t give a shit, download this freebie! And because he has given away his talents for free, the least you could do is pay the man some respect by sharing this track with your friends or giving him a heart on Hypem to spread the word even faster.

Friday Funk: Memorial Day Weekend

RAC ft. Penguin Prison – Hollywood (The Magician Remix)

Coming fresh off the release of his Magic Tape 23 just a couple days ago, The Magician spreads his synthed-out disco love over RAC’s first single, “Hollywood”. I’m dancing around my room already to this one and feeling a little nostalgic toward that synth-heavy 80s sound. I give a whole-hearted salute to The Magician for transforming this acoustic RAC track into an instant live set classic. Watch out for The Magician this summer and be sure to check out his tour dates because you will most certainly catch this one on repeat live.

Kimbra – Settle Down (Kreap’s Jazzology Mix)

Has anyone noticed the goddamn 2,300 remixes Earmilk uploaded to their soundcloud in the past few days? You guessed it; there’s a remix contest afoot – Kimbra’s ‘Settle Down’. Unfortunately, they left the burden up to the artist to promote their own remix – the more soundcloud ‘favorites’ you have on your track, the more likely you are to make their first round of cuts, which will be a Top 10 list by this coming Monday. An arduous task when most producers like Kreap are busy producing other music.

An obvious front runner in my eyes is Kreap‘s remix. A self-proclaimed “house man forever”, Kreap lays a trademark deep house edit over Kimbra, which prepares it for any DJ to add to their set and appease the ladies in the audience with sounds they may have heard before. I’m in love with this one, but don’t take my word for it. Legendary Chicago house producer/DJ, Derrick Carter, enjoyed it so much he made an edit of Kreap‘s remix to use for his own use! You can listen to both below, but be sure to support Kreap by giving him a favorite on this first track below if you like what you hear!

Friday Funk [Graduation Aftermath]

With graduation out of the way and a new life ahead, music hasn’t sounded this sweet in a while. John Roman – Reclusion 2 [EP Mix]

I first found out about John Roman when I heard his original, “Sala”, BANGED out on Laidback Luke’s Essential Mix. I must have played that track 1000 times before finding out who produced it. The 23-year old Toronto native delivers a hard-hitting, bass heavy deep house performance with every production. He is quite reclusive (get it? the title of this EP mix?) and enigmatic, but has already gained massive support, including our unwavering approval here at PB&J™. Lance Gurisik down in Syndey, better known as Lancelot, has been leading a hefty campaign in 2012. He will be huge by the end of the year, quote me on it. Along with other great producers in this expanding disco / indie wave genre (Moon Boots, Perseus & Zimmer to reference a few others), Lancelot is leading a charge for a rebirth of any tasteful music you thought died out in the 80s and early 90s. Kameron Sears – Phresh & Funky [Mix]

Originally from Chicago and now in St. Augustine, FL, DJ Kameron Sears has caught my attention with the energy of his “Phresh & Funky” set – maybe because we have such a parellel taste in music? Either way, he’s a local talent and I’ve had this funky disco-dance house mix on repeat for literally 24 hours. Listen closely to those jack-y Chicago hi-hats. They’ll get you movin’.
