Dubstep Cures Cancer

25 May

Cancer…it’s a word that can stir up emotions like no other in the English language. Six regular old letters that when put together can strike fear in the strongest of men or women, despair in the happiest of boys or girls, and hopelessness in the most hopeful of people. It’s an ailment that has effected billions and become all too prevalent in our society, so much so that it’s nearly impossible to come across a family that hasn’t been effected by cancer in one way or another. Whether it be through a friend, family member or simply an acquaintance, we’ve all had some experience with the devastating nature of the disease. Thankfully there’s been some banding together over the past few years in the hopes of fighting back against cancer. In all corners of the world, we have people and organizations working as one in efforts to learn more about cancer, to minimize its impact and to one day find a cure. One of those people is Cory Schneider, founder of the non-profit organization Dubstep Cures Cancer. Seriously check these dudes out… (more…)

Always the innovator, Bassnectar is back at it again with a brand new video for his Vava Voom banger, ‘Ugly’. Knife Party at UKF’s 3rd Birthday [New Live Set]

10 May

Ladies and gentlemen, do we have a treat for you. Our good friends over at Listen Up Music Promotions just sent us a brand new 56-minute Knife Party set, and trust me when I tell you that this is a can’t miss live performance. Ahead of the release of their new EP, Knife Party have uploaded their recent headline set from UKF’s 3rd Birthday at Proud 2 in London to their Youtube channel to stream in full. Premiering plenty of new and exclusive music, including material from their forthcoming ‘Rage Valley’ EP, the high octane set rips through an eclectic selection of all things bass heavy and showcases why they’re so rapidly in the ascendent. Seriously…the sheer talent displayed by these two (Rob Swire & Gareth McGrillen of Pendulum) as they tear up the decks is almost absurd. If you haven’t already gotten ahold of their debut EP ’100% No Modern Talking’ (over 50,000 downloads in less than 12 hours on the day of its release – now over 500,000 downloads worldwide) then do yourself a favor and pick it up immediately. For now, the only information on the new EP is that it will be coming “very soon” and feature four tracks: ‘Centipede’, ‘Bonfire’ ‘Fuck Em’ and ‘Sleaze’. Even better news is that the Knife Party live experience will be returning to the US at the end of the month to kick off another mini-American tour. The madness starts May 31st at Firestone Live in Orlando, FL thanks to some help from our friends at Evolve Group. In the meantime, listen to this set and stay tuned for more information on ‘Rage Valley’. Now go ahead and enjoy.

Dubstomp Wompday (50th Edition)

26 Apr

As Spring semester comes to a close and we inch ever closer to summer, new music has been pouring in from all over the EDM world. With festival season hitting its stride and lots of new albums on the horizon, it looks like another bangin’ summer in the way of electronic music. Although finals week has forced this post to be a bit tardy, the 50th edition of Wompday still has all the bass heavy goodness that you’ll need to bring in the summer right. Stepping inside, Filth Collins does his usual filthy thing, Document One brings down the house with ‘Moving Together’ and Seven Lions gives us one of his best productions to date with his track ‘Below Us’ from his new EP. There’s also 3 Logistics songs from his most recent album (highly recommended) that are much more ‘dubby’ than his traditional Drum & Bass work. Whether you’re done with finals or not, blast these tunes and enjoy the vibrations.

Preview: Netsky – Come Alive [New Drum & Bass]

19 Apr

A few weeks back we posted a sneak peek at the first single from Netsky‘s forthcoming album, which is set to drop by the end of June (pushed back from the previously announced “end of May”). Although the DnB mastermind has yet to confirm a definite release date, he did just release the album’s second single ‘Come Alive’. While it may just be a preview, these 98 seconds of skillfully produced Drum & Bass are exactly what Netsky fans have been craving since the last teaser. Come Alive starts off with a happy little xylophone synth that reminds me of something from Zelda, but quickly evolves into an epic production laced with beautiful female vocals, soaring piano and strings melodies, and a powerful bass line. I can’t wait till the end of June.

Dubstomp Wompday #49

18 Apr

Ok folks, we’re gonna be honest right off the bat…there’s a new Skrillex song in this post. Now we know that some people despise Sonny, he’s a polarizing figure no doubt, but his sheer talent and popularity amongst the bass community is undeniable. Love him or hate him, his new track ‘Make It Bun Dem‘  featuring Damian Marley is as good a dubstep track as any and I found it to be worthy of a post. There are plenty of other bangers packed inside this edition of Dubstomp Wompday. From Figure to Noisia to Datsik, there’s more than enough bass to go around this week…get to jammin’ Jammers.
