Mat Zo Speaking “Jump” on The Language Tour

This past weekend, Colorado had the pleasure of hosting Porter Robinson’s Language Tour for two nights in a row: the Boulder Theater, in Boulder on Friday night; and The Ogden Theater, in Denver, on Saturday.  With opening acts The M Machine & Mat Zo, it was bound to be a happy, fun night! I arrived at The Ogden a few minutes before The M Machine closed out, so I can’t give too much of a review on that aspect, but from what little I did catch, it seemed like the perfect way to get the night started for the fast–rising EDM superstar Mat Zo and, later on, Porter Robinson.

Take a small leap to hear about the rest of the evening!

With his presence ever growing in my iTunes library, after Ultra, I made it a point to find every one of his live sets that he puts together.  After continuously playing his EDC set whenever I would get in my car, finding out that the Language Tour was coming through Denver with Zo opening was an ecstatic moment.  Throughout the hour plus set that was presented to us, Mat cleanly stuck to his guns and remained on a consistent level with what I was expecting for the most part. However, if you came into this event only hearing his single productions on youtube, then you were definitely in for a surprise!  Mat Zo got people jumping to the beat of some glorious tracks that surprisingly mesh well together! Bringing in the classic bangers that were sure to make the crowd smile and belt out the words, Mat seamlessly introduced some brand new pieces from various other artists like Joe Garston‘s “Forever”, yet brought it back a few years as well to the Barnes and Heatcliff Remix of Lentos‘ “Forget about us“.  It is this overt display of musical knowledge that keeps Mat Zo, not only at the top of my best producer’s list, but also best live DJ list as well.  If you haven’t seen this tour yet, there’s only two nights left! Check it!

Thanks to Anjunabeats for the night!
