‘Butterfly’ is the latest release from Orlando based musician Chuck Magid. The song was written in memory of Keeley Imel, who passed away from complications of cancer this past spring. I recently got the chance to sit down with Chuck for a while and talk about his newest single, and when talking about where he drew inspiration from he said:
“After Keeley passed away her mother told me that people very close to Keeley had been noticing butterflies flying by them more often, as well as finding single dimes lying around. She also explained to me that this is a sign of somebody watching over you, and every day since, I’ve had butterflies flying directly in my face. I’ve seen more butterflies, butterfly print hats and clothes in the past months than ever before and that it is definitely the work of Ms. Keeley Imel. So I was seeing all these butterflies and it really inspired me to write a song about her.”
After chilling with Chuck for some time, he mentioned that his favorite part of making ‘Butterfly’ (aside from the uplifting music video) was writing the following line into the chorus with a clever change in spelling – it gave me goose bumps after I read it and it was written just like this:
“Thank You Keeley for showing me the meaning, That being happy is the Kee to life”

Since Keeley left us nothing has touched us more than this song by Chuck. He will always have a special place in our hearts, especially Keeley’s. His work is amazing!
