One of our favorite live acts, Zeds Dead, just released an extremely popular new remix of Marina and the Diamonds’ ’Lies’, and why shouldn’t it be getting a lot of love? It’s fucking awesome. The duo’s remix just further demonstrates how unique they really are when you see how they’re able to turn an already solid track into a work of art, while staying true to their unconventional style of electronic music.
Love the melodic piano chords that mesh with a soft hip-hop beat and hypnotizing vocal samples in the beginning. But the drop is really where this one puts on its big boy pants and goes to work – that tasteful, gritty, and infectious bass line gives way to Marina’s beautiful voice and you realize they’ve done it. Oh and to top it off? The remix has been released for free…if this is the foot Zeds Dead is starting the New Year off on, then I’m pumped to see what these two canucks start flexing come festival season. Enjoy!
