Deep house is making a strangely hefty comeback in the indie dance scene these days. Left and right I’m finding more producers starting deep house side projects – maybe because its a little less complex than most sub-genres? I’m not here to pass judgment with that observation, rather to pass on some excellent deep house from Mick Verma who’s doin’ somethin’ right. Among the abyss of emails (literally one billion) we receive on a daily basis, Mick’s style was exclusively sent to us from Vision Collective Recordings and it caught my ear. Mick has a distinct simplicity in his sound, which can naturally transcend from the overarching category of “house” to deep, chilled and classy vibes. After receiving the promo of his Deep Visions EP yesterday,’That Dance’ stood out as a personal favorite due to its hip hop flavor and influence that spontaneously invoked some childhood memories of growing up in projects of Anacostia (Southeast DC) as a child. I invite you to get lost in Mick’s work just as I did. Check out all the previews below to Deep Visions EP and show Mick some love, as they are all available for purchase on Beatport.
