Quintino – PB&J Exclusive Interview

Our love affair with the Dutch seems never-ending! Discovered by Laidback Luke when he was only 18, Quintino has truly made a name for himself with a string of releases, his own label imprint  Super SoniQ Records, and by joining Afrojack’s Wall Recordings team. His collaboration with Sandro Silva entitled ‘Epic’ has been THE hottest and most played track of the year. Fortunately, we were able to sit down with the rising Dutch star and ask him a few questions. As a long-time favorite of the PB&J™ crew, it was great to delve into several topics with Quintino from his friendship with Tiesto, to playing on the Dutch team for the DJ Football Games in Miami and he even gave us an exclusive sneak-peak at his release schedule for this year…all we can say is – WOW!  As always, hit the jump for the interview and stay updated with the always EPIC Quintino! Oh and be sure to pick up his latest single ‘Circuits’ HERE.

-INTERVIEW-

How did your friendship with Tiesto begin and what influenced your two releases on his Musical Freedom imprint?

We met after I sent him “EPIC” after that it was straight on a good friendship. He is a really cool guy and running this game for so long. He is someone to look up to.

Where did the name ‘Quintino’ come from?

I come from (Den Helder, North of Holland) they always called me Quintino when I was a child. So it was easy ending up with this nickname.

It’s pretty crazy seeing the success that Afrojack, R3hab, and Shermanology have had so far, how does it feel to be a part of a team, Wall Recordings, that’s doing so well?

Really cool! It’s a really talented team with so much new releases coming up. I can say I am really proud to be a part of this team.

Can we expect some major collaborations from you this year?

Yes, I’m working on so much new stuff as we speak . I can’t tell all the collaborations yet, but it will be surprising for sure! J

What was your influence for your latest track, ‘Circuits’ on Wall?

Circuits is a collaboration with MOTI. MOTI is an old friend of mine. We used to make the “bleep” music for a long time. So now we started to make a project together to make this music, and it works out really well.

We saw you and the Dutch team represented down at the DJ Football games. Who would you say was the best player on both teams?

Yes! It was a great experience and so much fun!  I’m happy to say I played soccer for 10 years. The Swedish team,  Stefan from Dadalife was doign a really good job. For the Dutch team, Sunnery James played very well!

Any plans for a USA tour coming up?

Yes, I’m about to do an USA tour in June. I really can’t wait after my Miami Music Week experience. I am so hyped up to play all my tracks and upcoming stuff and share it with the American party people!

Your song with Sandro Silva, ‘Epic’ was one of the biggest releases last year and also one of the most played tracks in Miami, how did you two come up with that track and how does it feel to see such a massive reaction?

That’s really cool, we met last year at Winter Music Conference (2011). We hooked up to make a set up and after the Winter Music Conference week  we had ‘EPIC’. It took a while before it came out. There’s still a big buzz around ‘EPIC’ and it hasn’t reached his peak yet…

Give us a sneak preview of what your release schedule looks like this year:

Spencer & Hill – Surrender (Quintino remix)

Far East Movement – Jello (Quintino remix)

Jennifer Lopez,  Will.I.am and Mick Jagger – THE (Quintino remix)

Quintino – Rockets

Quintino & Moti – Circuits

Quintino & Moti – (no name yet)

And a lot more coming up as I am now in the studio for 3 weeks in a row!

How would you describe your individual/personal sound?

Energizing , inspiring and always ready to get the crowed insane in the QUINTINO way!

What inspired your two collaborations with Afrojack ‘Selecta’ and ‘Let Me See You Dance’? And can we expect any more in the future?

We used to make music together when we were both playing in Holland as small kids. And we kept on doing this till now. ‘Selecta’ was the first collaboration. ‘Let me see you dance’ was a follow up but I don’t know if we are going to release it. But for sure we will make some fresh new collaborations in the future!

We’re fans of the entire Wall team here at PB&J, any future collaborations with Apster? ‘Music Oh’ happens to be one of our favorite tracks!

Oh that’s really cool, thanks guys! Yes, Apster is a great talent also and definitely will be there a follow up for ‘Music Oh’. I don’t know when due to our busy schedules,  but I know it’s coming for sure…
